Catherine Von Burg
CEO & Co-Founder

Catherine's career spans a diverse portfolio of strategic planning, policy development, and executive management of organizations such as the Pew Charitable Trusts, Rockefeller Institute, Columbia University, and Johns Hopkins School of Biomedical Engineering. Catherine serves on the board of directors of CALSSA, in addition to serving on the advisory board of Alegria Farmacy and the Footprint Project.

Stuart Lennox
CTO & Co-Founder

In 2001, Stu's background in designing special effects and inventing solutions for motion picture production led him to develop the first powerful, lightweight battery for cameras and lights utilizing a new lithium ion technology. Simpliphi's batteries leverage 10 years of experience perfecting his original lithium ion battery electronics and assembly for motion picture professionals.

David Shea
Chief Financial Officer

Prior to SimpliPhi, David held roles as CFO of EV charging company Greenlots and at Clean Diesel Technologies Inc. He also served as Director of Finance for ENCO Utility Services, Manager of Business Planning and Development for Edison Enterprises, and Manager of Material Estimating and Cost Management at Northrop Grumman.

Du Li
VP of Research and Development

Du has held strategic positions at Aikar Technology, Faraday Future, and Tesla where he oversaw product design and development, manufacturing, testing and quality control. Du has his MBA from Pepperdine University, Doctor of Mechanical Engineering from the University of Southern California, MS of Manufacturing Engineering from Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics and a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Xi’an Jiaotong University.

Sequoya Cross
Director of Sales & Business Development

Prior to SimpliPhi, Sequoya worked for DGrid Energy as a solar engineer and operations manager, deploying large-scale solar refrigeration systems globally. Additionally, she was CEO and Co-Owner of Tamarack Solar and Backwoods Solar. She also served as VP of Operations at AEE Solar soon after attending Humboldt State University.

Zach McMullen
Director of Manufacturing Operations

Zach honed his operational experience as part of a Fortune 500 aerospace company in their Management Program focused on product development engineering. Previously, Zach founded, managed and sold a successful, vintage performance auto parts manufacturing company. He earned a B.S in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Portland.

Dumindra De Zoysa
Director of Supply Chain & Logistics

With 16 years of domestic and global operations leadership, Dumindra leads the continuous improvement of SimpliPhi’s supply chain and procurement. Prior to her work in operations, she was engaged in electrical engineering, testing and R&D. Dumindra earned her B.S. in Electrical Engineering from CSU Northridge and MBA from CSU Bakersfield.

Zak Wellman
Director of Product Test and Validation

Zak spent 14 years with CDTi Advanced Materials (formerly Catalytic Solutions, Inc.) in roles focused on testing, quality, and manufacturing. He began his career with the California State Water Resource Control Board after earning his B.S. in Chemical Engineering from San Jose State University.

Jesse Gerstin
Director of Sustainable Business Development

Jesse headed the Clinton Climate Initiative, leading efforts to accelerate utility-scale renewable energy in island nations and increase sustainable economic growth for Native American nations. Previously, he worked for an impact investor in Indonesia, and at Echoing Green. Jesse has a B.A. in International Development from Oberlin College and an MBA in Sustainability from Bard College.

Michelle Meyer
Director of Marketing & Communications

Prior to joining SimpliPhi Power, Michelle was the Director of Marketing at Greenlots, which was acquired by the Shell Group in February 2019. Michelle has held various strategic marketing roles with ABB, Eaton, and AMSC. Michelle earned her B.A. in Political Science from McGill University and MSc in Politics and Research from the University of Oxford.

Wiglaf
Head of Security

Prior to becoming SimpliPhi Power’s Head of Security, Wiglaf graduated at the top of her class from the very prestigious K-9 Combat Camp. She started with SimpliPhi as a security advisor back in 2018, and was quickly promoted through the ranks as a result of her clear dedication to protecting universal access to clean energy. Primarily stationed in our sun filled lobby, you can always expect a warm greeting/inspection from Wiglaf when visiting our headquarters.

Bill Sechrest
Co-Founder and Chairman

A current member of the law firm Calhoun, Bhella & Sechrest LLP, Bill has a diversified background in areas of law, business and board governance. Most recently, he served as Lead Director and Chairman for the board of directors of Tailored Brands. He is also a founding shareholder and former member of the law firm Winstead P.C. Additionally, he is a founding shareholder of Ojai Community Bank and former member of the board of directors OCB Bancorp.

Hunter Lovins
Independent Director

Hunter is Chief Impact Officer of Change Finance, an impact investing firm. As President of Natural Capitalism Solutions and Professor of Sustainable Business Management at Bard College, she was named a Master at the De Tao Academy in Shanghai. She is a founding mentor of the Unreasonable Institute and of the Rocky Mountain Institute. Hunter is author or co-author of more than a dozen books on sustainable development and innovation, including "A Finer Future: Creating an Economy in Service to Life.”

Barclay Palmer
Chief Communications Officer

Barclay is an Emmy Award-winning media executive and strategy consultant. He previously held executive producer and editorial roles with leading global media and news outlets, including CBS, CNN, Thomson Reuters, Bloomberg, and Newsweek. Barclay is also an investor in several early stage companies.
