SimpliPhi CEO Honored as Global Power & Energy Elite for 2021

OXNARD, Calif. – Jan. 26, 2021 – SimpliPhi Power’s CEO and president, Catherine Von Burg, has been honored as an Elite Leader as part of the Global Power & Energy Elites for 2021, among only ten individuals selected for this prestigious recognition. The company’s battery-powered microgrid at a migrant camp along the US-Mexico border in Matamoros was also selected as an Elite Project for its humanitarian impact and contribution to meeting the medical needs during the pandemic of the more than 3,000 refugees and asylum seekers living there.

“Since our founding in 2010, we have focused on improving lives by enabling access to sustainable and resilient energy for communities around the world,” said Von Burg. “I am honored to be among such a distinguished group of leaders who understand that businesses can be profitable as well as a force for good by prioritizing their impact on people, the environment and society at large in all matters of industry.”

In praising Von Burg, the advisory board noted that “she is committed to the transformation of the power grid and creating universal access to renewable energy by leveraging distributed energy storage, and advocates for equitable, safe and affordable energy for all.”

Started in 2015, Global Power & Energy Elites has continually recognized the most influential executives in energy for their leadership in advancing a positive future and driving sustainable development in the international power and energy sector.

The organization also commends companies for individual projects that “play an impactful role in the energy revolution.” SimpliPhi’s microgrid installation at a field hospital serving refugees and asylum seekers in Matamoros, Mexico was praised as an Elite Project and a benchmark for other companies and communities around the globe to emulate. In collaboration with the non-profit organization Footprint Project, SimpliPhi donated their industry-leading safe, cobalt-free lithium-ion energy storage to deliver a renewable energy microgrid to power the camp’s first mobile medical ICU and field hospital to treat COVID-19 patients.
