When Hurricane Maria hit Dominica in September 2017, power was lost island-wide. Working with the International Trade Union Confederation, SimpliPhi, Sesame Solar and Outback Power shipped an off-grid, solar-powered containerized nanogrid to Dominica, which will both help deliver electricity to those still without power and provide a disaster relief office.
Our partners at Direct Relief helped equip the nanogrid with much-needed medical supplies and Stone Edge Farm donated funds to cover the cost of children’s school and art supplies.
When he leaves office, California Governor Jerry Brown and his wife Anne will spend most of their time in their new off-grid ranch house in a remote area north of Sacramento powered by a Solar+SimpliPhi storage microgrid. Designed and installed by West Coast Sustainables, the Rancho Venada microgrid is made up of 48 solar panels, producing 14 kilowatt-hours of electricity feeding renewable power into 10 SimpliPhi PHI 3.4 kWh batteries.
SimpliPhi and Sunbelt have provided reliable off-grid power to 90 homes in the village of Toconce, Chile with solar+storage. The clean energy systems replaced diesel generators as part of ENEL Green Power’s social and environmental commitment to inhabitants who live near its groundbreaking Cerro Pabellón geothermal plant.
Congratulations to our partners at Stone Edge Farm for winning the Governor’s Environmental and Economic Leadership Award (GEELA) -- California’s highest environmental honor! Stone Edge was recognized for using “advanced technology to generate, store and distribute clean energy to its property and beyond.” SimpliPhi is thrilled to be a part of this important demonstration project that is proving the economic and technological viability of microgrids and the reliability of solar+storage during catastrophic events.
