Earth Day 2018 Summary

On April 22, SimpliPhi joined more than a billion people around the world in celebrating Earth Day 2018. From California to Texas, our team and our technology were out in full force.

Environmentally-Conscious Innovators at Santa Barbara Earth Day Festival

After being selected to participate in the Los Angeles Cleantech Incubator’s Energize California Innovators program, SimpliPhi was invited to host a booth at Santa Barbara Earth Day Festival, as well as power up the World Business Academy’s TVs, phones & laptops throughout the Festival. Hosted by the Community Environmental Council, SB Earth Day Festival is represented by over 200 environmentally conscious organizations. The impact and history of this Festival dates back to 1970, after the massive oil spill off of Santa Barbara’s coast in 1969 galvanized California, and Senator Gaylord Nelson, specifically, into action by founding the first Earth Day. As a result, the Festival has been able to demonstrate, year after year since, how to divert waste stream from landfills & reduce greenhouse gas emissions through carpools, bicycles and non-toxic, cobalt-free solar plus storage technology.

Green Building Techniques & Education at Ventura Earth Day Eco Fest

How many SimpliPhi batteries does it take to power one trailer? It only took one PHI 3.5 kWh battery to ensure that the US Green Building Council’s BuildSMART Trailer never lost power during the Ventura Earth Day Eco Fest! The USGBC chose to pair their SimpliPhi battery with solar to provide hours of silent, safe, non-toxic energy storage. The purpose of the BuildSMART Trailer is to provide a mobile learning resource that demonstrates sustainable living & working environments, illustrating superior green building methods, & SimpliPhi was thrilled to be able to support the USGBC’s mission!

Reliable, Non-Toxic, Mobile Solar + Storage Solutions at Ojai Earth Day

Local solar installer, California Solar Electric, used two non-toxic SimpliPhi PHI 3.5 kWh batteries to power up their trailer during Ojai Earth Day. They needed a lightweight, energy dense, compact & reliable energy storage solution to replace four of their heavy, worn, inefficient, lead acid batteries. With a quick upgrade to eco-friendly, cobalt-free SimpliPhi storage solutions, they were on their way! Ojai Earth Day, hosted by the Ojai Valley Green Coalition, provided the perfect venue for California Solar Electric to demonstrate the power & reliability of solar plus SimpliPhi Storage solutions.

Education and Raising Awareness at EarthX in Texas

Did you know the U.S. military is the world’s largest institutional consumer of oil? This was one such topic that was being discussed while Catherine Von Burg, CEO of SimpliPhi Power, attended the EarthX Conference on Earth Day. EarthX is an international environmental non-profit dedicated to educating and inspiring actions for a more sustainable future. As the world shifts toward distributed renewable energy assets from the public, electrical grid, the U.S military’s actions taken toward removing their dependence on fossil fuels serves as the perfect microcosm of proven paths forward. In order to raise awareness of, and support this transition to, distributed renewable energy assets, SimpliPhi’s military-tested and time proven storage technology will be featured in the film The Burden. The Burden tells the story of fossil fuel dependence as our greatest long-term national security threat, and why the military is leading the transition to clean energy. The film is the centerpiece of a strategic media engagement campaign to inspire a movement that strengthens our energy security and harnesses the power of American innovation to make us leaders in the 21st century global clean energy economy.
