The Sales Application Engineer will be responsible for directly contributing to and meeting the company’s revenue and growth goals, including monthly, quarterly and annual sales goal by identifying opportunities, establishing partnerships and winning development opportunities specific to Commercial and Industrial use of battery storage systems. The SAE will have direct ownership in supporting development projects, responding to RFPs, defining and managing cross-functional revenue generating opportunities and working with regulatory and advocacy bodies to support expansion of energy storage in the C & I Space. SAE interfaces with our Engineering Team as well in development of specific products for High Voltage and specifically designed and engineered systems. Background on technical support and sales for renewable energy systems that incorporate storage is a plus.

Reports To: Director, Sales and Strategic Business Development
Travel: Up to 50% of the time
Location: Mid United States preferred, but will consider other locations based on candidate qualifications and experience

Primary Job Duties:

  • Effectively communicate and educate all prospective and existing customers and strategic partnerships on the company’s products, solutions and advantage at conferences, trade shows, events, calls or any written communication.
  • Track, manage, update and prioritize leads and opportunities in company CRM to provide information and progress for all internal teams.
  • Solicit feedback from external and internal stakeholders on opportunities for product development, quantify opportunities and present to cross functional teams and leadership for prioritization.
  • Identify, qualify, create and initiate collaborations with appropriate external parties to provide comprehensive solutions for development projects. Create and provide customer required documentation. Utilize software tools to quantify necessary savings and performance measures.
  • Work with existing and new customers to submit all customer required documentation, including but not limited to product technical requirements, safety and material documentation, single line designs, 3D renderings, integration information and project information for applicable RFP or project documentation.
  • Answer customers’ technical questions regarding company products, via phone and email
  • Consistently perform research, request information and identify markets, incentives, policies, electrical code and jurisdiction requirements that align with Company’s product offerings. Identify public and private opportunities to assist in bringing product to market. Clearly communicate opportunities with cross-functional teams and provide project charters and strategic initiatives for approval.
  • Work with governmental, regulatory organizations to facilitate rules and regulations that favor safe and non-toxic energy storage solutions.
  • Work with advocacy organizations to promote energy storage.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 3+ years in a customer facing role in energy storage or other renewable energy technology, responsible for meeting and exceeding quotas and goals
  • 5+ year Professional Experience in the renewable energy industry, with preference towards energy storage specially.
  • Ability and experience working effectively with a remote management team

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience working in the renewable energy or energy storage industry, in a technical sales role
  • Project management skills
  • Knowledge of global, national and state level energy and utility level policy and regulation
  • A demonstrated ability to take on additional responsibilities
  • Financial Acumen
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Environmental Science, Business or Chemical Engineering or similar professional experience

The Sales Application & Technical Support Associate will share responsibility for contributing to and meeting the company’s revenue and growth goals, including monthly, quarterly and annual sales goals by identifying opportunities, developing relationships with installers and integrators by providing technical support and establishing partnerships within specifically defined market segments. The SATSA will assist the SAE team in managing technical support intake and troubleshooting of systems in the field with distributors and installers working with SimpliPhi’s Lithium Ferro Phosphate (LFP) batteries.

The role also involves experience answering a variety of technical questions regarding battery operating parameters, appropriate Balance of System equipment, proper battery wiring, LFP battery chemistry, battery management system functionality and more.

Primary Job Duties:

  • Answer customers’ technical questions regarding company products, via phone and email
  • Assist customers with battery system setup and Balance of System equipment settings
  • Discuss system performance issues and concerns with customers
  • Troubleshoot system issues, coordinating with Tier 2 Tech Support to resolve
  • Collaborate with other equipment manufactures to solve integration issues and better understand potential future issues
  • Track customers’ feedback regarding products and document issues
  • Stay up-to-date with the company’s offered products and product features, as well as the latest Balance of System equipment
  • Recommend to customers appropriate products based on the specific application, outlining products’ capabilities and limitations
  • Recommend to customers appropriate battery system size and overall system design

  • 5+ year professional experience in the renewable energy industry, with preference towards an energy storage specialty
  • Project management skills
  • Experience with solar photovoltaic system design and energy storage required
  • Experience with technical support via phone and email
  • Ability to stay cool under pressure
  • Ability to independently make decisions and solve problems
  • Direct or indirect customer service experience and/or experience talking on the phone with clients required
  • Ability to remember and communicate detailed technical information clearly and accurately
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required
  • Experience with CRM or Helpdesk software
  • Energy storage installation experience a plus
  • Technical degree and/or 3 or more years of experience in the energy storage industry required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working for or with renewable energy distribution companies and establishing strong relationships with installers in the industry
  • A demonstrated ability to take on additional responsibilities
